JORDANDA AND THE END OF ENTERTAINMENT

JORDANDA AND THE END OF ENTERTAINMENT

After leaving the band over 4 years ago, former members of the gothic shock-rock band, Jordana Divinorum will be hitting the stage together for a one-night only reunion show Friday, May 4th, at Black Pirates Pub. Former drummer, and founding member, Jimmy Sin will be joining long time guitarist, The Beef, bassist, Ryan Suicide, and front man, Jordana Divinorum to rock downtown Thunder Bay one last time together, while promoting their album, The End of Entertainment.

This notorious lineup made a name for themselves in Thunder Bay in early 2004 for pushing the envelope through their over the top stage antics, interactive live show, and overall offensive behavior. Many of their shows have ended in chaos that featured nudity, self-mutilation, and the total destruction of the stage. "They are a gothic, futuristic nightmare for your parents" claims Canadian glam-rock singer, turned cage fighter, Robin Black of Robin Black and the Intergalactic Rock Stars.

After leaving JD in 2008, Sin (Jimmy Wiggins) and Beef (Shawn Hartviksen) hung up their fishnet stockings and formed the alternative rock band, Vega, while bassist Ryan Suicide (Ryan Hughes) left soon after to form his own industrial rock band, Dead Romantic. Front man, Jordana (Matt Baumann) has kept the band name alive by playing shows as a solo artist or with fill-in musicians.

Jordana Divinorum will be joined on stage by local metal bands, Tapout and Richard Fister Friday, May 4th at Black Pirates Pub. Doors open at 10pm. Tickets are $5 and are available to the age of majority only. For more information visit the website.

Fantasia LaPremiere Is Back

After a 4 year hiatus, drag queen Fantasia LaPremiere will be making her triumphant return to the stage, Friday May 11th, at Black Pirates Pub. To help celebrate her return, Fantasia has cast the best and brightest drag performers from around Thunder Bay, including the reigning drag queen & king of the north, Portia and Ivan love, along with Paloma Marquez, Natalia Summers, Busta Hymen and DJ Fabulous Dave.

Hosted by Wiggins Pro-Ductions, this show aims to celebrate pride awareness and shine the spotlight on the city's growing lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered/transsexual and queer community in a fun, safe, and open environment. "Our goal is to promote pride and unity in Thunder Bay, not just among the gay community," says event promoter Jimmy Wiggins, "and everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, race or gender, is more than welcome to engage with these phenomenal events."

For the past several years Wiggins Pro-Ductions has been hosting LGBTQ events in Thunder Bay, giving people the opportunity to experience anything but a conventional and predictable kind of nightlife. "With no 'official' gay bar in town, it's important to support and legitimize these events in queer-friendly venues," Wiggins explains. "Shows like this help give Thunder Bay an exciting vitality that is both positive, innovative, and a lot of fun." Doors for this event open at 10pm. Tickets are $8 and are available at the door.

Birdhouse Auction Thunder Bay Art Gallery

[http://www.807area.ca/calendar?mc_id=mc_2012-05-25_17|(Link to item in new calendar))

The Thunder Bay Art Gallery's signature Birdhouse Auction is the slightly less formal, more nature-inspired art auction the Gallery hosts each year. This year's auction take place May 25, 2012.

Every year artists donate incredible outdoorsy-focused pieces of art including one-of-a-kind functional and/or decorative birdhouses, paintings, handmade baskets, garden art and other nature-centred works. Appetizers, cash bar, music, and our entertaining auctioneer round out a lively evening of feisty bids and raucous bird calls. Gallery Members receive a discount off the price of tickets. All proceeds from this event go toward our exhibition and education programs.

The Art Gallery is located at 1080 Keewatin Street, Thunder Bay, Ontario. For more information visit the website.

The Lakehead Canoe Club extends an invitation for the young at heart to embrace the team spirit. We make it possible for everyone to compete, where every one wins.
